Bacon Noodles isn’t only a time saving meal, it is mouth watering and exquisite. With only two ingredients, this bacon noodles recipe is one very affordable recipe anyone must try. It is the perfect lunch or dinner idea when you have less than 15 minutes to cook something great to eat.
Instant noodles are a delicious and tasty meal one can have at any time of the day. They can also come in very handy when you are busy and/or exhausted and have only a little time to cook something good for yourself or family to eat. They usually have all their seasoning included in the packets to ensure you have everything to make the meal in one place.
To make this meal, I decided to add bacon to the noodles to enrich the meal with protein. Furthermore, the bacon releases aroma, juices and oil when cooked on a skillet/frying pan that adds flavor and taste to the meal. This bacon noodles meal has become a popular lunch meal for my husband on week days.
Ingredients
- Bacon. I used Naturally Hardwood Smoked Lower Sodium Bacon. Any other type of salt cured bacon that has been sliced thinly can also be used.
- Instant noodles. I used Indomie Instant Noodles, Chicken flavor. Any other kind of instant noodles can do.
See recipe card below for ingredient quantities.
How to cook bacon noodles
To efficiently cook this meal in 10-12 minutes, I recommend that you cook the noodles and bacon simultaneously using two burners on your stove. So you can go back and forth between the two pots to maximize the wait time as each pot cooks.
To begin, pour some water into a small pot and place on the stove to boil. Then add the noodles and simmer for 2 minutes.
Next, add seasoning to the noodles, mix well and allow to cook for about 3 minutes or until the water is almost dried up. Ensure to stir occasionally as the noodles cook. Once ready turn off the stove and set aside.
Place a large frying pan on another burner of your stove (while the noodles are cooking), put in the bacon slices and start cooking. Do flip the bacon slices from side to side as it cooks and cook for about 6 minutes, or until desired.
Remove the cooked bacon from the frying pan and drain on a strainer or paper towel. Use a chopping board to chop the bacon slices into small pieces and add them to the pot of cooked noodles and mix everything up well.
Scoop some of the oil-juice mixture in the frying pan with a spoon and add to the pot of noodles for that extra smoke flavor and taste. This is totally optional, but it adds some goodness to the overall taste of the meal.
Mix well and serve.
This bacon noodles recipe is a can do and a must do for everyone. I promise you it would soon be your favorite time saver as it has been mine for decades. So tell me you will try this.
BACON NOODLES
Equipment
- 1 Member's Mark 14" Nonstick Restaurant Fry Pan
- 1 WearEver 2QT Sauce Pan
Ingredients
- 12 oz Bacon (14 thin slices)
- 5 oz Instant Noodles
Instructions
- Pour 2 cups of water into a small pot and place on the stove to boil.
- Add noodles to the pot of boiling water and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Place a frying pan on another burner of your stove, put the bacon slices in it and start cooking. Try to place them spread out as much as you can to ensure each side cooks uniformly.
- Flip the bacon slices from side to side as it cooks and cook for about 6 minutes, or until desired. If you like your bacon very crispy, you might have to cook them for up to 8 minutes.
- Add the packaged seasoning to the noodles, stir and allow to cook for about 3 minutes or until water is almost dried up. Then set the pot aside. The seasoning is quite intense, so I would recommend you use only half the sachet of seasoning per pack of noodles. See the recipe notes below for seasoning guide.
- Remove the cooked bacon from the frying pan and drain briefly on a strainer or paper towel.
- Use a chopping board to chop the bacon slices into small pieces and add them to the pot of cooked noodles. This is to enable them mix well with the noodles, so how small how want them depends on you.
- Scoop some of the oil and juice mixture in the frying pan with a spoon and add to the noodles for that extra smoke flavor and taste. This is an optional step, so you can skip it if you do not want any oil at all in the final meal.
- Mix well and serve.
Notes
- For noodle seasoning, if you are doing 1 pack of noodles, use half of 1 sachet of seasoning. This is because these seasonings have a very sharp spicy taste and besides, the bacon is salt cured, so using all the seasoning will impart a very salty taste on the meal.
