Grapes and cheese brochettes are one of the easiest and most delicious cheese snack you will ever make. Requiring just two ingredients and as little as 10 minutes to get a whole plate ready, these nutritious brochettes are about to become your favorite snack.
Traditional cheese eating was never my thing until I travelled to Belgium to pursue my master’s degree in nutrition. In Cameroon, the only cheese I ate was “La Vache qui rit” (The Laughing Cow), which is a processed cheese product by the French company Fromageries Bel.
La Vache qui rit, which is a soft white cheese commonly eaten as a bread spread. It could also be eaten on its own, though not common practice.
However, when I went to Belgium, I was shocked to see a plethora of cheese options and our much loved La Vache qui rit, was not even a popular cheese eaten there. So, I began experimenting with other types of cheeses and that is how I grew fond of a couple of them like cheddar cheese, gouda cheese and mozzarella cheese.
Now, I was first introduced to grapes and cheese brochettes by my friend’s mum. It was her graduation party, and I was in the kitchen with her mum and others finishing up with the meals. Then she started stacking up diced cheese and grapes on toothpicks and I joined her.
The taste of these brochettes was mouth watering, and I ate almost a plateful of them during the graduation party. They have become one of my favorite snacks/appetizers since then.
Ingredients
To make grapes and cheese brochettes, you only need two ingredients:
- Cheese (I used cheddar cheese, but any cheese you like best should do)
- Grapes (I used green grapes because to me they pair best with cheddar cheese)
How to make grapes and cheese brochettes
Making grapes and cheese brochettes is super easy.
First, dice the cheese on a chopping board using a knife. (If you bought already diced cheese, then skip this step).
Next, bring in some toothpicks and start stacking the brochettes; one grape and one diced cheese per toothpick. Stick in the grapes first, then the cheese.
Finally, place each brochette on a tray, pan or your desired serving dish. Serve immediately or chill and serve later.
These little brochettes are a very handy snack for a healthy diet plan. They also make a great choice of appetizers for your favorite gatherings or parties.
I encourage you to give them a try if you have never had grapes and cheese before, and I will be glad to know how it went for you in the comment section below.
